Riseria De Medici recovers all the by-products from its rice processing, which are used in zootechnics, nutrition and the energy sector.

Broken rice consists of all the grains which break during processing. This product is obtained through a mechanical process which separates broken grains from whole grains.
It is used for the production of rice flour and starch, or in zootechnics.

This is the protective outer layer of the rice, commonly known as the husk; a by-product derived from the threshing of the grain.
The hulls are used in various sectors such as energy, livestock, stabling and green building.

Chaff is the residue resulting from the processing of brown rice by removing the outer parts of the grain. It is often used in animal foodstuffs.
In recent years this product has also been used in biogas plants for energy production.
Sectors of application for rice hulls:
Energy: used as fuel in cogeneration plants.
Livestock: an excellent litter for stabled animals, particularly cattle and poultry.
Stables: an ideal litter for horses; non-absorbent and easy to clean.
Green building: rice hulls have been used in the past for insulation and have now returned to the construction sector with various uses, turning a manufacturing by-product into a resource that is natural, recyclable and with zero environmental impact.
